My 4th show. I recall an encounter with a security guard, 10th grade.

Jeff Silberman, your capture is better than the just released 30 Trips box set.

This show has some great chemistry for a period that many say lacked just that. There are some of those sloppy moments during transitions, but nothing that kills the intensity too much. The Scarlet>Fire is one of the best I know of when it comes to a relaxed jazzy transition. The comping from Brent leads Garcia into a beautiful landscape of sound that only this band can elaborate on during this classic segue. (Not a lot of overplaying in this show during a rough transitional period) The sound of the recording lets you pick up the nuance of the tone and I wish I was there to witness this show. These recordings will have to do. Long live The Dead.

Sound Quality: An AUD on par with soundboard quality with a nice nominal amount of crowd right, recorded right up front
Many know Mr. Lemieux would have liked to release this show but for one issue with the boards, one of the kick drums was way too high in the mix. The poor quality of the 1983 two-track boards would not allow for them to tamper with the mix, so it was not to be. For anybody preferring soundboards and actually NOTICING the kickdrum (somehow words like lush and unreal are thrown around by some to describe this show's SBDs on this site...) this AUD is a godsend. The levels are quite gorgeous. The only thing that can get a little bothersome is the tracking.
Performance: I'll cop a statement from another reviewer that I found true for myself, you know that this show will be something good when Jerry and Brent hit the triplet harmony in TMNS. Somehow that's a point of realization, dunno how so but he was very correct (at least to me) in saying so. The band had really nice tones and timbres in their instruments and voices during this Fall 83 tour, but had a sort of difficult time coming together very well, save for shows like this and set 2 of 10/14 (DP6) and a few others I can't name at the moment. The boys are on and able to control the song's emotions like only they can, Healy's voice tricks really add to moments such as the end of Loser, and Jerry or Bobby plays a nice little strung out Happy Birthday guitar for Brent! Highlights are all over, so as a certain fellow says, GIVE IT A WHIRL!

I'm surprised no one has reviewed this. This upfront recording sounds very nice. Best source to my ears.
